GRC Supply Chain Management

WORKING TOGETHER
BETTER TOGETHER

It is important to understand that GRC is not a product but a material that can be made into a variety of products.

GRC can produce anything from kitchen worktops to street furniture using a variety of production methods as defined in the GRCA Specification and BS EN 15191. Its main use however is as large format cladding.

In this application what is a complex and advanced composite is then used to manufacture elements using different approaches to design, engineering, strengthening, and fixing. Some manufacturers prefer to design to the GRCA Design Guide whilst some incorrectly utilise an approach more suited to materials with consistent and predictable material properties. Whilst some producers market flat panels relying on a grid support system others use geometric design or the use of steel sub-frames.  Fixing systems are different from supplier to supplier, project to project.

For anyone involved in projects featuring GRC, these different approaches can create what is an incredibly stressful procurement process.

The difficulties construction professionals face when looking to place GRC orders/contracts is compounded by the fact there are two different manufacturing standards (GRCA Specification and BS EN 1169) which in many aspects are currently not aligned. These standards also do not differentiate on the application of the finished products and ultimate consequence of risk. Put simply a manufacturer producing GRC architectural dressing for a private 2 storey dwelling produces to the same specification as one manufacturing GRC cladding for a 300-metre high tower.

This is where we can help with an innovative GRC supply chain solution that matches application to capability and introduces differing levels of compliance based on risk consequence.

We have an in-depth knowledge and experience of both the material and application.

We know and have contact with virtually every GRC manufacturer in both the UK and Europe. Working alongside our partner design engineers and metal fabricators and utilising our own logistics operations, independent testing laboratory, and installation teams we can offer full supply chain management solutions. This fully consolidated approach not only reduces risk but ensures cost-effective and on-time GRC project deliverables.

Our service is the ultimate expression of working together, working better using a fully integrated end-end supply chain management process.

In addition to the above, we can offer consultancy services to advise on any individual aspect of the GRC supply chain process. These include specific drafting, procurement advice,  factory production control inspections, and on-site installation monitoring surveys.
