Since 1993 PBS Synergies has controlled and been the driving force behind some of the UK’s largest cast stone and glass fibre reinforced concrete (GRC) manufacturing businesses.
Through continual innovation, we pioneered the use of air suspension/self-offloading vehicles when carrying easily damaged cast stone products, our then GRC manufacturing company GRCUK was the first in the UK to be ISO 9001 accredited, and our GRC Synergies business became the first UKAS accredited laboratory for comprehensive testing of GRC.
During this period PBS staff have held the office of Chairman and Treasurer at both the United Kingdom Cast Stone Association (UKCSA) and GRCA (International Glass fibre Reinforced Concrete Association). We also have representation on British Standards Committee B/524 (Precast Concrete Standards) and CEN/TC 229/WG 3/TG 2 (European Standards – GRC)
Over the last 15 years, we have been involved as manufacturers, installers, and consultants in a wide range of prestigious projects featuring GRC. These include the RIBA award-winning University of Greenwich Stockwell Street Building, both Bond Street and Paddington stations as part of the Crossrail construction, and the Karlatornet in Gothenburg which, when completed, will be the tallest tower in Scandinavia
